The Results of Your Life's Mission: What To Remember When Things Don't Go Your Way
God made you and has a mission or purpose for your life. You have to discover your purpose and spend your life fulfilling that purpose.
There are 3 ways we learn.
1) By Explanation
2) By Example
3) By Experience
It’s wise to learn by experience, but wiser to learn from the experience of others. You don’t have to make their mistakes. You can learn from people who are successful and from those who have had failures. Jonah did almost everything wrong in his life’s mission.
5 Mistakes That Made Jonah Miserable:
1) Jonah thought He could ignore his Mission. He ran from God!
2) Jonah was prejudiced against people God created and loved!
3) Jonah cared more about politics than people’s salvation!
4) Jonah was only interested in his nation, not God’s world!
5) Jonah reluctantly fulfilled his Mission, but with a bad attitude!
1. Resenting God’s plan when it doesn’t fit my plan!
5 Resentments Jonah had against God:
1) Frustration - Frustration in your life is a sign that you are resenting God!
2) Anger - Jonah became furious because God didn’t destroy the people!
3) Self-Pity - He had resentment and that leads to self-pity many times.
4) Depression - This is extreme resentment.
5) Suicidal - I would be better off dead. Just go ahead and take my life.
2. Resenting God’s Goodness and Mercy To Other People!
Forgiveness is never earned. It is always a gift. You forgive them, not because they have earned it. You forgive them because it’s the right thing to do for you. The best thing.
What Should I Remember When Things Don’t Go My Way?
1) God Can See Things I Can’t!
2) God does everything on time.
3) God cares for me even when I’m cranky at him.
3. I Remember That God Is In Control Of Every Detail Of My Life!
He is trying to reach you to tell you He knows things and does things that we do not understand. We must have faith with him, believing God knows best. The more you fight God’s plan, the more miserable you‘re going to be. You will have frustration, and anger and self-pity and depression. Just like Jonah.
4. Focus On What Will Last!
God is saying to us if you going to get worked up about something, get worked up about something that matters. People matter to God. They should matter to us.
