Let no neglect, no ravages of time, testify to the present or to the coming generations that we have forgotten as a people the cost of a free and undivided republic.
How did Memorial Day come about?
On May 5, 1868, Major General John A. Logan of the Grand Army of the Republic (an organization made up of Union Veterans), set aside May 30th as Decoration Day to commemorate fallen soldier by adorning their graves with flowers. In 1971, Congress made the last Monday in May, an official Memorial Holiday! In 2000 the congress passed the National Moment Of Remembrance Act.
As we remember what our armies have done for us, let's take a few moments to look at an Army that God has ready to use on our behalf. The Invisible Army
2 Kings 6:17 And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
Psalms 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people.
Does your sin bring condemnation on your home, and your family?
Psalms 121:4 indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
God who watches over America, neither slumbers or sleeps. But has America has gone to sleep on the matters of God.
Kings 6:16 “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
We are thankful for the spirit which still lives in the hearts of those who know the Lord and know that God still commands the invisible Army. Always remember that when God is for us, there are more of Him than them!
We are not a weak people. But Satan has caused us to fight and bicker among ourselves about different issues, while the word of God has the answers to those problems.
Hebrews 13:20-21 Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
